January 2021 Wallpaper

Wow, it is hard to believe that it is already December 31st! This wonderful fact means that 2020 is almost over, and we only have a few more hours before this year is behind us. New Years Eve is always a time to celebrate with friends, but this year we’re just looking forward to the fresh start that new calendar pages provide. We’re quite optimistic for the year ahead. Today we wanted to pick a photograph that mirrors our mood; bright, colourful, and full of hope as we get ready to ring in the New Year. We have chosen this colourful picture from one of the local markets in Chefchouen, Morocco from a trip to Africa back in 2008.

January is a month best associated with the rebirth, and we turn the page into 2021, we have a little bit more excitement as we say goodbye to the year that was. We definitely made the best of things in 2020, but it wasn’t easy. January is almost here, and as a result, it’s time to celebrate a little. Last year we spent new years eve outdoors, on the sandy beach in Puerto Morellos on the Riviera Maya. This year, we will be indoors, staying within our own household bubble in Canada trying hard to last until midnight. Oh what a difference a year makes.

We hope everyone is having an amazing holiday season wherever in the world you are and whatever it is that you are celebrating! Merry Christmas Everyone! Feliz Navidad! Fröhliche Weihnachten! God Jul! Felicem Natalem Christi! It’s almost time to start counting down the hours and minutes until the new year.

Putting 2020 behind us…

For many, 2020 was the year of no travel. We were lucky in a sense that we traveled a little bit before lockdown and a little bit after. When travel stopped, we spent several months under lockdown on Cozumel, so when the restrictions were lifted, we were already at the beach. Our plan worked out great for us.

We followed this up with a whirlwind summer, and our activity peaked from July until September. At this point we got married, drove across the Yucatan and most of Central Mexico – from the Riviera Maya to Mexico City – finally uprooting our lives from Mexico to Canada. Now we live in Canada and we’ve been here for the past few months. We plan on laying low for the next few months and then we have many incredible local adventures planned for the spring.

2021 is new chapter of our lives that we are excited to begin writing. The new year promises new adventures and a fresh start for many. While we don’t consider ourselves the New Years resolutions type, it’s always nice to welcome the new year with optimism. January always offers plenty of promise.

Creating beautiful desktop wallpapers is a monthly feature we created, featuring pictures from some of the most incredible places we have traveled over the last few years.
