February has quickly disappeared and we are preparing to jump into March. There is plenty of things to be excited about as we turn the calendar to another new month. Winter will be over soon and spring is just around the corner. To celebrate the new month we’ve decided to showcase Guanajuato City and the colourful buildings that rise up the hills surrounding the city.
Over the last few weeks we have been sharing pictures from our latest adventures through Central Mexico. Today is another opportunity for us to show off some of the best of our travels with another incredible shot from Guanajuato City. Guanajuato is one of the most colourful cities that we’ve been to in Mexico and it is a photographers dream destination.
This region of Mexico was first explored by the Spanish in the early 1500s. In the middle of the century silver was discovered in the hills around the city and this helped to make the city and region extremely wealthy. The 18th Century was the city’s peak, when many of the beautiful buildings throughout the city were built.
During this time the nearby Mina de Valenciana produced 60% of the world’s silver. There are many churches and Beautiful plazas that have lasted the test of time, which helps make the city the incredible destination it is today. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Central Mexico and are looking forward to going back again.
We have been creating desktop wallpapers as a monthly feature since 2018 as a fun way of showcasing pictures from some of the amazing places we’ve visited. We hope you enjoy our latest installment and are excited for our April wallpaper coming soon!
