Happy Halloween everyone! We are celebrating the end of another month, bidding farewell to the month of October. We’ve enjoyed a wonderful autumn so far, and we are excited to see what November has in store for us. We’ve decided to feature the Pacific Northwest – and the incredible Oregon Coast – as our November 2019 Wallpaper. This is one of those bucket list destinations you can’t miss. One of the main attractions is Haystack Rock, a large rock formation that sits on a long stretch of sandy beach, surrounded by nature. Cannon Beach is located about 2 hours west of Portland. It’s possible to do this as a day trip, but you should probably stay for a few days… just in case.
You’re going to fall in love with this place. Very few destinations in the world can you explore National Parks, waterfalls, volcanoes and beaches, all in the same day. The Pacific Northwest an unforgettable travel destination and it is home to some of the most wild landscapes found anywhere on earth. The views are unforgettable. The Oregon Coast is famous for the towering rock formations dotted along the coast. These formations are known as sea stacks, and they stand out like sore thumbs along otherwise empty stretches of sandy beaches. One of the best places to see this example of nature on display, is the 71 meter tall (235 foot) Haystack Rock, in Cannon Beach.
Haystack Rock and the other sea stacks are a seasonal home for migrating puffins, and seem out of place in this environment. They sit out on the waterfront surrounded by a picturesque beach setting. Getting your picture taken in front of these rocks is the number one attraction for visitors to the area. Haystack Rock is just one of the many rock formations that you can visit along the coast, and it has become one of the most famous attractions in Oregon. It was also featured in the 80’s movie “Goonies”. The beach along the coast is the perfect place to sit back and enjoy the sunshine.
This big rock is located at Cannon Beach, a small village that now specializes in tourism. There are many great restaurants to visit, as well as some neat craft breweries and a small award-winning distillery. It’s worth spending a day or two. The evergreen forests and many unique rock formations along the coast become the perfect backdrop for these long sandy beaches. It is a dream destination for a photographer.
The best way to experience the Oregon Coast, is to take a drive along Highway 101. one of the most incredible drives in the world. Traveling from Los Angeles, California to Olympia, Washington, the road winds a path along some of the most scenic places. While the Interstate (I-5) has diverted many drivers from this coastal road, it’s worth taking your time. The old Highway 101 is a drive that you will not forget.
The fall is a good time to visit Oregon. The changing colours of autumn and west coast storms make for some romantic vacations to the coast. It’s why we chose it for our November 2019 Wallpaper. We have been creating desktop wallpapers as a monthly feature in 2019, showcasing pictures from some of the amazing places we visited. We hope you enjoy our latest installment and stay tuned for our December wallpaper!
