June 2019 Wallpaper

We’re are finally one step closer to the official start of summer, and this means warmer weather and longer days are returning. This means more time outside enjoying the sunshine; and the sunsets. One of our favourite parts of summer in Vancouver is that the sunset times slowly creep towards double digits, and around the summer solstice (June 21st) there is still light outside after 10pm. This means more time to enjoy the beach, a barbecue or a cheeky round of golf.

To celebrate this, we have decided that our June 2019 desktop wallpaper should reflect this (literally) and we have chosen one of our favourite sunset photos from the Lower Mainland, taken along the Fraser River in Ladner, BC. You never know what the skies are going to look like once the sun passes the horizon, and sometimes you’re treated to a magical array of reds, yellows and oranges as the sun disappears for the day.

Ladner was a small fishing village, about 30 km south of Vancouver, and has become a quiet suburb of the big city to the north. The river delta here is home to many islands, which in turn has made this an important sanctuary for wildlife. There are many migrating birds who love the fertile soils that have been deposited by the mighty Fraser River, which crosses much of Canada’s westernmost province from the Rocky Mountains, just west of Jasper National Park. One of our favourite things to do when visiting (or living in) Vancouver, is to find a nice quiet place along the river and watch the sunset. You won’t find many other places that offer the same peace and quiet that you can find here.

Creating beautiful desktop wallpapers is our newest monthly feature that we have been working on for 2019, showcasing pictures from some of the amazing places we have traveled over the last few years. We hope you enjoy! Stay tuned for our July wallpaper coming soon (probably only a month away!).
